UPDATE: Police on Tuesday named the man who died following a collision between a dirt bike and another vehicle on Sunday as 57-year-old Virgil Bush of West Bay.
Original story: A dirt bike rider died in the early hours of Monday morning after he was involved in a collision with another vehicle in West Bay on Sunday.
Police and other emergency services were called to the scene on Watercourse Road just after 6pm.
According to police, the rider lost control of the bike while travelling northeast on Watercourse Road in the vicinity of Ruby Lane. He fell into the opposite lane and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Police said he was responsive at the scene, and was transported to hospital for treatment.
He succumbed to his injuries just before 2am Monday.
The roadway between Hillandale Drive and Alexandria Close was closed Monday morning while the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit conducted investigations.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who was in the area on the day of the incident and may have seen what took place to come forward and speak to the police. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the George Town Police Station at 949-4222 or the Traffic Department at 649-6254.
