Key figures in the consortium behind a $200 million project to build new cruise piers in George Town Harbour are in Grand Cayman this week for a series of meetings in advance of the upcoming referendum.

Representatives of Verdant Isle Port Partners are meeting with the Cayman Islands government, tour operators and other tourism partners, the Chamber of Commerce, Cayman Islands Tourism Association and various members of the media.

The representatives, which include Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean; David Candib, vice president of development and operations of Carnival Corporation; Barry Loudermilk, director of business development of Orion Marine Group; and Richard Noel, general manager of McAlpine Limited, will also meet with other key stakeholders, such as Cruise Port Referendum Cayman, the National Trust for the Cayman Islands, and Protect Our Future Cayman.

The meetings are the first in a series of planned stakeholder meetings being conducted by Verdant Isle over the coming months, which will also include an open town hall meeting.

Speaking on behalf of Verdant Isle Port Partners, Bayley said the meetings were to share information about the cruise berthing and cargo enhancement project and to listen to stakeholder needs and concerns.

“We are committed to being a proactive, approachable and positive community partner, emphasizing stakeholder relationships based on transparency and authenticity,” he said.

This data was shared with the DOE and the Cayman Islands Tourism Board (CITA).
    The proposed mega cruise ship breathing’s, Deep Dredging all the way to deep wall drop off will STOP this natural sand migration, which naturally replenish sand along the Seven Beaches all the way to deep drop off wall from Jackson Point to NW Point and back to Jackson Point annually.
