Driver injured in East End crash

A man was critically injured in a single-car accident on the Queen’s Highway in East End early on Monday.

According to police, shortly before 1am, officers responded to a report of a crash involving a white Kia Rio. The car had been travelling westbound when it left the roadway and collided with vegetation and a garbage crate, before coming to rest on the roadside, police said.

Emergency Services attended the scene and the sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. He remained in critical but stable condition on Wednesday.

This was the second serious single-car accident to occur that night. Brandon Thompson, 26, was killed after the car he was driving struck a utility pole on the East-West Arterial, at the intersection with Doubletree Lane, in Bodden Town.
