Top Iceland coach Jacky Pellerin has been named the new Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association technical director, replacing Bailey Weathers, who had served in that role since 2013.
In announcing the appointment in a Facebook post on Tuesday, 19 Oct. CIASA said members were looking forward to seeing Pellerin at the annual general meeting in November once he is released from quarantine.
“Jacky is ready to take on the challenge of leading CIASA’s mission,” the association wrote.
CIASA officials told the Cayman Compass that Pellerin arrived in Cayman on Thursday, 21 Oct. During his nearly three decades of experience he has coached and managed athletes at four Olympic Games, nine FINA World Championships and nine European Championships.
In the Facebook post, Pellerin said he has always followed the “humanist vision” of coaching, adding, “all my career I have organized my emotional and cognitive involvement around a common plan, mutual trust and respect, communication, and the enjoyment of working and being together as a team.”
