Children evacuated after smoke detected in school

Students at the Theoline McCoy Primary School in Bodden Town were evacuated from the school Thursday morning after smoke was detected in its mechanical room.

No one was injured and the children later returned to their classrooms after the Fire Service gave the all clear.

In a statement, the Department of Education Services said the school had “activated its emergency fire response procedure” after the smoke was detected around 10am, and the Fire Service and the DES facilities management team were immediately called to assess the situation.
