CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifiers postponed

The saga of postponements and cancellations for sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The Cayman Islands Football Association confirmed to the Cayman Compass that the CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifiers have been rescheduled for February 2022.

Trumpet continues to train local boxers

Since parting ways with the Cayman Islands Boxing Association in April, former national boxing coach Floyd Trumpet has continued to train local boxers out of the Performance Lab with hopes of sending several fighters to regional competitions.

Caymanian gymnast launching series to give back

Cayman’s first Olympic gymnast Raegan Rutty announced that she will be launching a video series on her Instagram page called ‘Life Lessons Before, During and After the Olympic Games’.

She noted in an Instagram post published on Tuesday, 16 Nov., that she will share lessons she has learned throughout her career in the hope of inspiring the younger generation “to reach and achieve their goals”.

82 swimmers hit the water at annual fosters sea swim

Swimmers took to the water at the 37th annual Fosters Sea Swim on Saturday, 28 Nov, afternoon. The event which had been postponed twice due to the COVID-19 restrictions, featured 82 swimmers taking to the water for the 800-metre sea swim.

Crossing the finish line first was, Will Sellars with a time of 10 minutes, 1 second.

Junior tennis players close 2021 with PwC tournament

The Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands closed out its PwC 2021 competition last month, with the PwC Junior Masters Tournament at the Cayman Islands Tennis Club.

The event featured Zach Jackson claiming the 18 & under division; Albert Berksoy, 14&U; Elias Drobac, 12&U; and Ava Pierre taking yet another 10&U in the PwC Circuit.

In addition, PwC renewed its sponsorship with TFCI for 2022, which will cover the costs of seven PwC Junior Circuit series tournaments.
