Hopping into a Happy Easter

Colourful egg hunts are happening at several venues over the weekend.

If the shelves of the supermarkets are any indication, Easter is just around the corner.

Eggs of all shapes, sizes and colours can be found lining the aisles, much like the tents that will be lining the beaches over the weekend. Camping along the coast over Easter is a time-honoured Caymanian tradition, and although modern conveniences have taken away some of the aspects of ‘roughing it’, the goal remains the same – to spend time with family and friends, go fishing, and cook in the great outdoors.

Campers are already marking out their spots, and no doubt some will take up residence early to make the most of this yearly treat.

The island should be particularly busy this public holiday weekend, as rather than fly off for a short vacation, many people are instead opting to stay. The extra hassle of travel with COVID regulations (plus the concern of catching the virus while away) will have everyone looking a little closer to home for fun activities.

There are quite a few events and brunches behind held at various venues, and don’t be surprised if the Easter Bunny shows up at some of them. He has a whirlwind schedule, so let’s hope he knows how to keep his fur cool.
