Police have arrested and charged Justin Kyle Jackson with murder, in relation to the fatal shooting of retired prison officer Harry Elliott.
Jackson had been on the run since Friday night, 29 April, after he fled from police during an armed pursuit.
Police, who had appealed to the public for help in tracking down Jackson, said they arrested the 23-year-old George Town man on Wednesday, 4 May.
The RCIPS did not reveal that they had made the arrest until after Jackson appeared in court today.
As well as being charged with murder, Jackson was also charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, in connection with Friday night’s pursuit, police said.
A judge remanded Jackson in custody until Friday, 13 May.
In a brief statement issued by the RCIPS, Detective Superintendent Peter Lansdown said, “This arrest and charge is a significant milestone towards getting justice for the victim and his family and disrupting recent incidents of serious criminal activity in Cayman.”
During Friday’s police pursuit, another man, Eric Brian Williams Soto, 20, was arrested. He appeared in Summary Court earlier this week and was denied bail.
