
Governor Martyn Roper and his wife Lissie hosted a dinner at Government House for AIMA and the West Indian cricket legend Michael (‘Mikey’) Holding.
The dinner was a kick-off to the AIMA event with Holding to be held at the Harquail Theatre on Friday, 16 Sept.

The dinner included several event sponsors from Cayman’s financial services sector who are raising funds for local charities Jasmine, the Cayman Islands Cancer Society, Big Brother/Big Sister and the Alex Panton Foundation (in memory of Addi Kelly).
The idea was initiated by Russell Burt who serves on the global board of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), which is an industry body for the fund industry worldwide.
After the September event, Holding will be available to sign copies of his book ‘Why We Kneel, How We Rise’ about racism in sport and in wider society, seen through the eyes of leading black athletes, including Usain Bolt, Thierry Henry, and Naomi Osaka.
The book, by the Jamaican former cricketer and Sky Sports cricket presenter, was the winner of the William Hill Sports Book of the Year 2021 and took two prizes at this year’s Sunday Times Sports Book Award, Including the Pinsent Masons Sports Book Writing of the Year award as well as Overall Sports Book of the Year.
Free copies of the book will be available to attendees of the event.
Tickets for the event will be limited and only available to sponsors of the event and a limited number of AIMA members.
