The Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee has said Tiffany Conolly, who remains the Miss Cayman Islands Universe titleholder, will not make any appearances or conduct any interviews until further notice.
This, as the committee said it awaits the outcome of the pending court case in which the beauty queen faces multiple assault charges.
She has pleaded not guilty to the charges she faces: two counts of common assault, two counts of damage to property, two counts of assaulting a police officer, and one count of disorderly conduct.
She is set to go on trial in October.
Conolly, along with the pageant committee and ministry of tourism, has faced public backlash since she was crowned on 6 Aug.
The Cayman Islands Universe Committee has maintained its stance that she “met the entry requirements” and was, therefore, an eligible candidate at the time she participated in the pageant.
The 2022/2023 Miss Cayman Islands Universe application form sets out the qualifications for entry which require applicants, among other stipulations, to be of “good character with no criminal record save… convictions for minor traffic offences”.
