Jackson elected Big Sky advisory committee VP
Caymanian swimmer Sarah Jackson has been elected vice president of the Big Sky Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
The 22-year-old University of Northern Colorado senior, and member of the school’s swimming and diving team, will be tasked with helping student-athletes achieve success in both sports and academics.
Cayman defeats Austin One at USA Touch Nationals
Cayman Islands national mixed rugby team is off to a good start at the USA Touch Nationals.
The Cayman team, which is placed in the Mixed Open B Division, consisting of 10 teams, defeated Austin One 8-4 during their opening match on Thursday, 22 Sept., at Omni Orlando Resort in Champions Gate, Florida.
Hope For Today 5K set for 25 Sept.
The Hope For Today Foundation’s annual 5K Walk/Run is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 25 Sept.
The charity event will begin at 6am at Seven Mile Public Beach. The first 100 people to arrive will receive a free T-shirt. Tickets are $10, with all proceeds benefiting the Halfway House Programme.
Cyclist Connolly selected for 2023 Caribbean championships
Caymanian Kevin Connolly will hit the road for the Cayman Islands national cycling team at the 2023 Caribbean Cycling Championships, which will be held in October next year in the Dominican Republic.
At the competition, Connolly will take part in both the individual time trial and the road race events.
Bakertilly Corporate League serves up final season of 2022
The last season of the year for the Bakertilly Corporate League is set to begin Thursday, 22 Sept., at the South Sound Squash Club.
The league is opening with 13 corporate participants, divided into 26 teams among four divisions, which is “the biggest… league for a long while,” according to Squash Club officials.
