It is understandable that residents in low-lying flood risk areas need to sandbag their accommodations to assist in stopping flooding.
However, it’s disheartening to see when hundreds of residents rush down to the beaches to fill their bags and, then, after the weather has passed, simply dump those bags in the bushes or garbage bins.
We really need to be more responsible. It takes less effort to return the sand to the beach – simply cutting them open and pouring the sand back out where it came from – than it does having to scoop them up in the first place.
Take responsibility for your actions residents, return the sand to the beach you took it from!
