Worried about rise in gun violence

I am becoming increasingly concerned with the increase in crime and, more particular, with the increase in gun violence in Grand Cayman. 

I spend about five months a year in Grand Cayman and have been coming since 1995. 

While I read of incidents almost weekly, I cannot recall any articles on the underlying causes of why individuals are arming themselves and finding the need to settle disagreements with violence. Nor do I see government looking into the underlying causes.
