The Cayman Drama Society is working on its schedule of productions for 2023, and is inviting actors to audition on Monday, 24 Oct. at 7pm for a part in ‘The Memory of Water’.

The auditions will be held at the Prospect Playhouse Theatre, where the play will be staged in February/March 2023. Dubbed a ‘tragi-comedy’, ‘The Memory of Water’ was written by Shelagh Stephenson and won the 2000 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.

It was first staged at Hampstead Theatre in 1996 to glowing reviews.

Plot
Three sisters come together before their mother’s funeral, each haunted by their own demons. The play focuses on how each sister deals with the death and how it directly affects them.

The three each have different and comedic memories of the same events, causing constant bickering about whose memories are true. As the three women get together after years of separation, all their hidden lies and self-betrayals are about to reach the surface.
