CITA boss eyes busy holiday, urges action on crime

President of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association Troy Leacock has said Cayman’s winter season is set to see high visitor numbers, a welcome relief for the recovering tourism industry.

However, Leacock, speaking on Wednesday’s episode of The Resh Hour, cautioned that immediate steps must be taken to address Cayman’s spike in robberies, the most recent of which happened on Monday at a gas station on Hell Road in West Bay.

Leacock said the rise in crime was of great concern, not only from a business perspective, but as a citizen of the Cayman Islands.

“It is one of the most urgent things we need to deal with because it can significantly affect not only the quality of our life but the tourism industry,” Leacock said.
