Jordan Crooks qualifies for semi-finals

Cayman’s swimming siblings Jordan and Jillian Crooks’ performances at the 2022 FINA World Swimming Championships in Melbourne, Australia have got off to a record-breaking start.

The two, who are considered to be the fastest male and female Caymanian swimmers respectively, continue to swim faster each time they hit the pool.

Jillian Crooks closed out her competition on Tuesday, 13 Dec., after earning several national records. Her first record came in the 50m fly, where she swam 26.40, besting her previous time of 27.44. She placed 24th overall.

She then went on to swim the 100m free, where she recorded a time of 54.20, lowering her previous national time of 55.34 and placing 26th overall out of 63 athletes.

“I’m excited that me and my brother are here in Australia racing against the world and I’m excited to see how his events are this week,” Jillian stated in an interview on the CIASA Facebook page.
