A serious collision on Shamrock Road, in the vicinity of Poindexter Road, has left two people injured, one of whom is fighting for his life in hospital. The incident involved a Suzuki Swift and a garbage truck from the Department of Environmental Health.
The accident occurred just after 4:20am on Saturday morning.
The fire service attended the scene and extricated the male and female occupants from the Suzuki.
Both were transported by ambulance to the hospital, where the male passenger is being treated for serious, life-threatening-injuries. He is believed to be in critical condition.
The female occupant sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalised, but is in stable condition. No other injuries were reported from this collision.
The road was temporarily closed while police carried out on-scene investigations.
