I would like to see more coverage of what is happening with the Black Pearl Skatepark by Hurley’s.
It is a terrible shame for the island to lose the skatepark. It is an underused resource that could provide a fantastic public park if the government were to step in and purchase the land.
With skateboarding now an Olympic sport, Cayman could not only cultivate athletes in an emerging sport, but also act as a training ground for international athletes. The Black Pearl is a world class facility that is being disregarded. The government has the opportunity to gain a valuable asset for the Caymanian public, but doesn’t seem to be taking notice.
