Feb 6, 2023 – Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – Cayman Medical Center is now offering a specialty MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) which is not available anywhere else on the island or in the Caribbean. This new MRI offers incomparable image quality and other unique aspects which greatly enhance diagnostic value. Specifically, this is a weight-bearing MRI and thus provides imaging that cannot be seen on a traditional MRI, such as a higher detection of disc herniation with weight-bearing compared to a traditional MRI. The specialty MRI is used for diagnostics relating to the following areas: Head/Brain, Spine/Back, Upper and Lower Extremities.
Due to its open-concept design and safety features it is much more user-friendly for claustrophobic patients and can be used in pediatrics on very young children. Typically, pediatric patients have had to travel offshore to have diagnostic imaging performed and with the specialty MRI, parents can be present in the same room and even hold the child’s hand for comfort. This “Green” MRI system uses a fraction of the power employed by traditional MRIs and does not employ any harmful radiation and thus offers a low carbon footprint.
The Cayman Medical Center offers unprecedented comfort and privacy in a spa-like setting with extremely fast turnaround time and high-quality reports. In fact, the MRI reports are performed with the highest standard and diligence by in-house staff; a Cleveland Clinic trained and society-awarded radiologist and the reports are made available usually within hours after the study has been done. Also, if wished, patients receive a CD of their images before they leave as well as have access to the images and their report via the center’s online portal.
The Cayman Medical Center is currently under construction with Phase 2 of its expansion plans which include additional services and offices as new specialists come on board with the center. For further information regarding the specialty MRI, please visit our website @ www.medical.ky.
