George Town Under-16 basketball team won the inaugural Department of Sports District Basketball Tournament after defeating Bodden Town on Sunday, 12 Feb.
The competitive game, which ended 27-20, was played at the Bodden Town Civic Center courts.
Jaylan Lopez was named MVP of the game after contributing 14 points, three rebounds and three steals.
Speaking with the Compass after the finals, Department of Sports Director Kurt Hyde said that the tournament was a success.
“It’s nothing short of amazing,” Hyde said. “From when we started on January 7, this tournament has just started to pick up steam with every district that we went to and then the finals today was just a huge accomplishment.”
Next up will be the girls district basketball tournament, which will take shape in the coming weeks according to Hyde.
