National gymnasts Karthik Adapa and Igor Magalhaes will represent Cayman at the senior Pan American Gymnastics Championships in Medellin, Colombia, from 22-29 May.

The duo will compete in the all-around with hopes of qualifying for the PanAm Games later this year; coach Kyle Perry, who accompanied the gymnasts, believes that result is possible.

“I feel like this is going to be a good competition and I think they will do really well,” Perry told the Compass. “Coming off the momentum that they had at the Commonwealth Games, hopefully they can qualify for the Pan American games in Santiago, Chile.”

For Adapa and Magalhaes, the gymnastics championships in Medellin will be their final competition before the Inter-Island Games in Aland, Finland, set for 3-7 July.
