Baking in the sun

Cayman’s sweetest shops.

Allora.

Whether it’s cupcakes, pastries or bagels which tickle your fancy, Cayman has it all.

Established bakeries are firm favourites with many clientele, while new bakeries are also popping up island-wide.

Allora.

Here are just a few to choose from next time a baked good is on your cravings list.

ALLORA

From the minds behind Agua and Aria, comes another culinary offering – Allora, situated in the new Harbour Walk development in Grand Harbour.

Allora is a multi-concept location, serving pizza, gelato, pastry and coffee. It uses the highest quality ingredients, importing ingredients for its gelato and pastry from Italy (hazelnut from Piedmont and pistachio from Sicily, for example), as well as sodas, beers, juices and olive oil.

Possibly its most impressive Italian import is a 50-year-old lievito madre – a leaven starter used to make bread, creating unique aroma and taste.

An all-day breakfast menu runs from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. At 5 p.m., Allora becomes a pizzeria offering a selection of pizza including Focaccia di Recco, Pinsa Romana, and classic pizzas.

Must-try items: Italian cornetto, Maritozzi (a sweet bun stuffed with Chantilly cream), and focaccia Ligure (typical focaccia from Genova).

Open Monday to Sunday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
