Caymanian footballer Gunnar Studenhofft is heading to Colorado Rapids Soccer Club after being drafted during the 2024 MLS SuperDraft on Tuesday, 19 Dec.

Studenhofft, a 21-year-old junior at Manhattan College and Cayman national starter, was the second pick of the draft during round three, becoming the first Cayman player to be drafted by a Major League Soccer team – fellow national player Mason Duval came the closest last year when he was in the draft but did not get selected.

In addition to his success with his college team, Manhattan Jaspers, Studenhofft was the last person to score for Cayman during the team’s final match of the 2023-24 CONCACAF Nations League.

His move to Colorado Rapids SC will mark the second major professional signing this year after Molly Kehoe signed a one-season player contract with Cardiff City Women back in July.
