Youth squad 345 FC capped off a successful year, claiming the Under-11 Boys Gold Level Springs Holiday Cup in Coral Springs, Florida.

The cup tournament, sanctioned by Florida Youth Soccer Association, took place through 15-17 Dec., where the Cayman team shined over top youth teams.

The 345 players kicked off gameplay Friday with a decisive 9-1 victory against Weston FC – which boosted momentum for the remaining scheduled matches. Springs Soccer Club faced the Cayman team the following day, losing 6-0.

The win placed the Cayman youngsters in the semifinal bracket where they drew 2-2 against SABR Team Boca on Sunday for what was described as a fast-paced game by 345 coach and Total Soccer Cayman director, Peter Reijn.

Reijn noted in an email to the Compass that his players’ individual skills and talent proved the deciding factors as they competed at high level.

That talent was evident, as they took a second crack at SABR Team Boca in the championship game, with Cayman claiming a 1-0 victory and the accompanying silverware.

“[It] was an epic final with a display of skill, pace, teamwork, and great sportsmanship,” Reijn said.
