A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder remains in custody in relation to an incident that took place at the end of the long weekend.
Patrolling police officers found the victim, who had sustained “serious and life-threatening injuries”, lying in the carpark of Trafalgar Plaza just before midnight Monday, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
Officers rendered first aid to the victim and called for emergency responders, who transported the man to the hospital, the RCIPS said.
Then, on Tuesday morning, police stopped a “suspicious looking vehicle” near the Strand complex, and arrested a 21-year-old West Bay man on suspicion of attempted murder and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Detectives ask that any witnesses who were in the area at the time contact the West Bay Police Station at 949-3999.
Anonymous tips can be made to the confidential RCIPS tip line at 949-7777, to the RCIPS website or through the Cayman Crime Stoppers website.
