Junior hockey players from the Cayman Islands Inline Hockey Federation returned home with a pair of gold medals from the East Cost Hockey Organization (ECHO) Youth Finals.
The ECHO Youth Finals, held in Snellville, Georgia, took place from 17-20 May and featured four teams from Cayman – in the 10 and under, 12U and 14U divisions, competing against over 30 clubs at the tournament.
The competition consisted of three round robin games, a semi-final game and a final. The 10U team won gold by taking the final 5-0. Phoenix Lacasse was named the championship game’s MVP.
Top Dishman got the most assists in the 10U round robin and Toby Davison, was named the Most Valuable Goalie.
Cayman’s largest group, the 12 and under, was split into two teams (White and Blue), with each battling hard during the round robin.
Team White went undefeated in their round robin and made it to the first-tier semi-final but fell short against a strong team from Georgia. Team Blue also had a competitive set of round robin games, but they too were knocked out in the semi-finals.

The 14U won gold in the second tier with a final score of 5-3. Brayden Leadbetter was named the championship game’s MVP. Leo Fantasia was the top scorer of the round robin.
“The Cayman Islands players’ overall politeness, kindness, and sportsmanship was something to be noted and celebrated,” the Cayman federation told the Compass. “Everyone wore their red, white and blue jerseys confidently and made Cayman very proud.”
The federation will be bringing four teams to Tampa, Florida, where they will represent Cayman at the TORHS National Tournament.
