Excitement is building for the young cast from Musicians Ltd Performing Arts School for their 13th annual production – ‘Encore!’
Taking part will be 60 talented students from both public and private schools across Cayman.
A press release from organisers described what the show is all about:
“Five years ago, six students joined the school musical in the hopes they would make some new friends. Little did they know they would make best friends for life through their shared love of performance.
“Now, in their final year, ‘The Super Six’ are looking forward to their last ever show together. But what they don’t know is that their school principal has just announced plans to cut funding for the drama program so the school can build another basketball court.
“Now, it’s up to the students to save the drama program and prove to their principal that the arts teach you so much more than singing, dancing, and acting. It helps to develop essential skills for life!”
The show is a fusion of seven beloved musicals, including favourites like ‘Matilda’, ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Shrek’.
“Through a delightful medley of familiar tunes, this family-friendly musical extravaganza takes the audience on a heartwarming journey, exploring themes of friendship, teamwork, and the profound impact of arts education on life skills development,” the release noted.
There are three shows at the Harquail Theatre:
Saturday, 15 June, 2pm
Saturday, 15 June, 6pm
Sunday, 16 June, 2pm
The production is suitable for all ages and has a running time of 1 hour 45 minutes, including the interval.
Ticket prices are $35 for adults and $15 for children.
