The launch of the Cayman Islands Recruitment Association (CIRA), the professional and regulatory body for the recruitment industry, marks a significant milestone for the profession, and is the result of collaboration between Cayman’s leading and longest serving agencies. It was in July of 1992, when Betty Baraud, of “Baraud”, the Islands’ first Recruitment & Immigration Services Agency opened its doors for business, that the Recruitment Industry on the island was born. Dedicated to maintaining high ethical standards within the industry and enhancing the profession’s reputation, CIRA’s member agencies agree to adhere to a Code of Ethics which will ensure that Cayman’s business community receives high quality, ethical recruitment services.
CIRA’s members are Baraud, Personnel 2000, Affinity Recruitment, CML, SteppingStones Recruitment, The Agency and Expertise. The following member representatives were elected to the Board of Directors: Betty Baraud, of Baraud, Darlene Thompson, Personnel 2000, Michelle Aubert, Affinity Recruitment, Will Kourtney, CML, and Pam Abbott, SteppingStones Recruitment.
Local businesses and job seekers alike are expected to benefit from CIRA’s initiatives. “Recruitment is a critical element in the development of our local economy and community,” said Pam Abbott, President of the Cayman Islands Recruitment Association. “Our mission is to create a standard that not only enhances the profession’s reputation but also guarantees that all members operate with the highest ethical considerations.”
The association will offer its member agencies access to a range of resources, including professional development opportunities, industry insights, and a network of like-minded professionals committed to excellence. CIRA also hopes to promote recruitment as a career path for Caymanians and to raise awareness of the industry within the community.
By promoting ethical practices, CIRA aims to build trust and confidence in the recruitment process, ultimately contributing to a more robust and dynamic job market.
