The Cayman Motoring Federation (CMF) is thrilled to announce the imminent departure of two Caymanian esports athletes, Ian Charlery and Karyll Iton, for the FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia, Spain, on 23rd to 27th October 2024, where they will proudly represent the Cayman Islands.
The athletes are competing in two stunning, custom-branded esports cars—one in the GT category and the other in F4—made possible by our new official sponsor, the global (re)insurance broker, Consilium, part of the Aventum insurance group. This incredible partnership marks a significant step forward in the growth of motorsport esports in the Cayman Islands and sets the stage for future success at the 2026 FIA Motorsport Games.
The FIA Motorsport Games, often referred to as the ‘Olympic Games of Motorsport,’ brings together the world’s top motorsport athletes, with the esports competition playing a pivotal role in the event.
The Cayman Islands will be competing in the FIA Motorsport Games for the first time, a momentous occasion that traditionally draws strong media attention to debuting countries. This partnership with Consilium ensures that the Cayman Islands will be well-represented, both in the virtual racing arena and in the broader motorsport community.
Jane Scaletta, President of the Cayman Motoring Federation, expressed her excitement about the sponsorship deal: “Consilium’s sponsorship is a tremendous boost to our esports athletes as they prepare to showcase their talents on a global stage. This partnership not only strengthens the foundation of esports in the Cayman Islands but also supports our long-term vision for growth leading up to the 2026 FIA Motorsport Games.”
Consilium is a global (re)insurance broker with offices in Cayman, specialising in financial and professional lines, construction, residential strata and commercial property sectors. It is part of the $1.86bn fast growing global insurance group Aventum. As part of the sponsorship, Consilium will enjoy global exposure, with their branding featured on team kits, car liveries and within the esports event itself. It offers an opportunity for extensive brand visibility and community engagement, reaching both an international and local audience.
Consilium’s support underscores the growing recognition of esports as a legitimate and rapidly expanding area of competitive motorsport. Their commitment not only empowers local talent but also contributes to building a legacy for Cayman’s esports community.
“We are thrilled to support CMF’s journey to the FIA Motorsport Games,” said Yaremis Hydes, Managing Partner at Consilium in Cayman. “Our Group CEO and Founder is the father of HAAS F1 driver Ollie Bearman and Aventum has always supported and sponsored Ollie on his amazing journey. It’s not hard to see why Consilium’s connection with the international racing scene has fueled our passion for motorsports. We look forward to helping elevate Cayman’s esports community and engaging more young talent in the Cayman Islands.”
This sponsorship deal elevates Caymanian talent onto a global stage, underscoring the crucial role of local support in fostering esports and motorsports at home. As Charlery and Iton get ready to compete in Valencia, CMF and Consilium are excited to see the inspiration their journey will spark in young Caymanians, encouraging them to explore and excel in the world of esports racing.
