2 October 2024 – Gram Bella’s, a community-focused art space dedicated to fostering creativity and exchange, is delighted to announce an upcoming exhibition, “Dialogue at Play,” featuring the works of Caymanian artist Iain MacRae and Jamaican artist Scott Braque. This dialogue will open 18 October and run through 18 November 2024, with an official launch party on 25 October. “Dialogue At Play” delves into the complexities of childhood, identity, and the profound impact of community across the Caribbean diaspora and beyond.

Exploring the Duality of Growth
“Dialogue At Play” invites viewers on a journey to explore the tension between maturity and childhood. Through a captivating blend of styles, the exhibition challenges the notion that “growing up” requires abandoning the wonders of imagination, pure joy, and playfulness. MacRae’s bold and expressive work explores the emotional turbulence inherent in the creative process, while Braque’s vibrant and dynamic creations reflect a fusion of traditional and contemporary influences. Together, their works unveil the multifaceted relationship between adulthood and childhood, prompting us to consider what we lose in the pursuit of maturity and the potential benefits of embracing our inner child.
The Artists
Iain MacRae is a contemporary artist known for his raw, intense approach. His striking use of colour and visceral brushstrokes evoke the emotional turmoil often present in artistic creation. His work has been exhibited at the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands and The Gallery, Camana Bay.
Scott Braque is a multi-talented artist whose work transcends genres. Drawing inspiration from baroque renderings, anime, and the digital, Braque infuses his creations with the vibrant spirit of Jamaican dancehall culture. His ever-evolving portfolio showcases a commitment to pushing boundaries and a passion for artistic exploration.
