This year’s Carol Winker Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to the University College of the Cayman Islands.
The award, a $2,500 prize, was created by Compass Media to encourage aspiring Caymanian journalists and honour the memory of Carol Winker.
Winker, the Compass’ much-loved and much-missed court reporter, passed away in November 2019.
On Monday, representatives from the Compass Media team presented Robert Robertson, UCCI’s President and CEO with this year’s award.
The scholarship will provide funds to support a Caymanian student currently pursuing studies in journalism, photography, graphic design, or creative writing, and who has applied for financial aid through the institution.
