What’s Hot on camera

Take a look at some of Cayman's recent hottest events.

Winnie the Pooh

From 7–9 May, the Harquail Theatre came alive with the heartwarming adventures of Pooh and friends, brought to the stage by 45 talented young performers aged 6 to 12. The cast had been preparing since September, and the results were four unforgettable performances, each ending with standing ovations. Directed by Inika Pierre, and with music direction by Inna Kazakova, two casts shared the spotlight across the four shows with energy and enthusiasm.

Hotel Indigo one-year anniversary

Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman celebrated its first anniversary on 9 May. The milestone was marked with an event held at Pom Pom rooftop bar, which welcomed more than 450 people. Yann Gillet, area general manager of Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, and Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman, opened the evening with remarks, followed by Enrique Tasende, senior vice president of Active Investments at Dart.

The pastry team, led by Chef Alisa Ali crafted an enormous ‘1’ tiramisu cake, and guests departed with giveaway bags filled with mini bottles of house-crafted rum and negroni, plus commemorative postcards. The dance floor stayed alive thanks to DJs Jardel Mac, Tiago Black, Max Kazakov and Rion Kirk, alongside saxophonist Denys Carbo.

The Pink Party

The Breast Cancer Foundation’s Pink Party at Hotel Indigo proved to be an evening filled with support, celebration and empowerment to benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation. This year’s party was titled ‘Pink Passport Soirée – an Evening in Paris’. Among those in attendance were the foundation’s patron, Governor Jane Owen, and newly elected Deputy Premier Gary Rutty.

The BCF used the event to launch its new Stepping Strong programme, specifically created to support young breast cancer patients, and sponsored by recruitment agency Stepping Stones. Entertainment was provided by Gweneth Stabler, a Moulin Rouge dance from Centre Pointe Dance Studio, and vocals by Sophie Nevin and Beneil Miller.
