Police say they are still waiting reports from overseas specialists who were brought in to help in the investigation into the death of Judiann Myles, whose body was found in a burning car more than two months ago.
In response to a request for an update, a police spokesperson on Friday told the Compass that the investigation was “still ongoing” into the circumstances surrounding the death of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority anti-money-laundering unit head.
“Specialists have visited the Cayman Islands from overseas, and we are still awaiting their reports,” the spokesperson said.
“Additionally, based on their initial findings, they have recommended further specialist assessments, and the procurement of these services are currently being evaluated.”
Last month, police confirmed that forensic evidence showed the car in which the body of Myles, 47, was found, in an empty lot in Lookout Gardens, Bodden Town, was deliberately set alight.
At a press briefing on 14 May, Inspector Dian Dyer-Alexander told reporters the case had not yet been officially classified as murder because police were awaiting forensic results.
“A formal classification of the investigation will be determined once we have the forensic findings, including the outstanding toxicology and trauma assessments that are ongoing,” she said at the time.
She said, among the local and international specialists working on the case were a forensic pathologist, a forensic anthropologist and a forensic fire investigator.
A tribute to Myles, who was the Financial Action Task Force Americas Joint Group co-chair, was expected to take place at an FATF plenary session in France.
Police in May had appealed to the public to contact them if they saw a white sedan with a black hood in the vicinity of Lookout Gardens on the afternoon of 3 April.
Members of the public with any information are urged to contact the Major Incident Room at 649-2930 or provide tips anonymously via Cayman Crime Stoppers.

This is a disappointing travesty! No case deserves this degree of lack of skills and progress., especially one of this category. Lady burnt to death in her car and over 2 months later it’s not declared as murder, “awaiting forensic results”??
CIPS this is for you, useless folk!
This lady was known to have purchased a container of gasoline from a gas station in BT mere hours before her blazing car and body were discovered. Has anyone from CIPS spoken to the gas station staff??
Noted I refer to CIPS! In my opinion it doesn’t deserve the Royal charter!
If this poor lady of impeccable reputation did buy a can of gasoline then I assume apart from their obsession with forensics, that the police have carried out extensive enquiries into her personal life and contacts. This case has been a mystery to all and must have been heart rending to her family and all her friends.
This article is totally incomplete, confusing, and lacking any real information. Is there a second party involved. Is there information that she intentionally committed suicide?
What of her relationships, friends, husband, boyfriend, financial problems. I have never considered CIPS to be up to the task anytime. There is something that is intentionally being withheld.
