Turning 50 deserves a celebration.

Tomlinson Furniture marked its golden anniversary in style on 21 Aug. by hosting a Business After Hours event in partnership with the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce.

The celebration drew a lively crowd of chamber members and guests to the Tomlinson Building on Walkers Road. Attendees enjoyed refreshments and networking outside, and inside there were exclusive in-store specials and tours of the showroom.

“Business After Hours is a great way to connect with our community,” said Renee Whorms, general manager of Tomlinson Furniture. “For those who might be new to seeing our company, it gives a ‘one-on-one’ opportunity. It’s also a great way for the business community to support one another.”

The evening was filled with gratitude and reflection.

Jackie Tomlinson-Smith, owner of Tomlinson Furniture, said, “We’re very thankful to God and to our community that we are still able to survive. I think that’s down to good service, exceptional prices and quality.”

She then added, with a smile, a warning to other businesspeople there.

“Don’t mark up your prices too much – keep them reasonable and people will buy,” she said. “We’re not the highest end, and we’re comfortable catering to the middle of the road, where most people are.”

Chamber President Omari Corbin also joined the celebration, praising the Tomlinson legacy: “We are here at Tomlinson Furniture celebrating their 50th anniversary – 50 years of providing service to the Cayman Islands. It’s an amazing family, a truly Caymanian family with strong entrepreneurship. Here’s to their next 50 years and more!”
