Michael Binckes of RE/MAX launches 3rd annual 12 Days of Christmas campaign

To celebrate the holiday season, Michael Binckes, Sales Associate with RE/MAX Cayman Islands, is launching his 3rd annual 12 Days of Christmas campaign to spread joy, gratitude, and festive cheer across Cayman.

What began as a simple family tradition of donating to local charities has now grown into a heartfelt effort to honour the people who quietly keep the community safe, supported, and thriving.

“It started as a way for my family and me to give back during the holidays,” Michael shared. “We started by making donations to local charities, but this year we wanted to do something different. We wanted to recognise the everyday heroes who keep our community safe and supported.”

Delivering cheer, one day at a time

Running from 8 to 19 Dec., the campaign will see Michael visiting various groups across the island. Each day focuses on a specific team or organisation that serves the community – often without recognition.

“Each day, we deliver holiday cheer – treats and messages of thanks – to different groups serving our community,” Michael explained. “It’s a small way to say we see you, we appreciate you, and your hard work does not go unnoticed.”

Honouring Cayman’s unsung heroes

This year’s campaign highlights a wide range of dedicated service workers and support teams, including:

  • The West Bay Fire Department
  • Both police stations
  • Staff at all three hospital emergency rooms
  • Jasmine
  • The Pines
  • Lighthouse School
  • NCVO
  • Meals on Wheels
  • The Breast Cancer Foundation

Rather than focusing solely on charities, Michael chose to spotlight the individuals working behind the scenes – the caregivers, first responders, educators, and nonprofit teams who keep Cayman’s heart beating strong.

“Our charities in Cayman do amazing work,” he said. “The causes are at the forefront, but it takes a village to make them what they are. These people serve in ways that often go unnoticed – supporting families, caring for people in need, and keeping our community strong. They deserve holiday cheer just as much as anyone.”

How the community can get involved

Michael encourages residents to join in spreading the spirit of the season, whether through acts of service, donations, or simple gestures of appreciation.

“People can join us by giving back in their own way – whether it’s donating, volunteering, or simply showing appreciation to the people who serve our community,” he said.

“A little kindness goes a long way. Many of these people work through the holidays when all of us are home with our families. A kind hello, Merry Christmas, or a thank you can go a long way.”
