ReConnect 2026 line-up announced

Cayman’s largest reinsurance conference is back. The Cayman International Reinsurance Association has revealed the line-up for ReConnect 2026, which will take place from 16-17 April at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.

André Ebanks, premier and minister for financial services and commerce, will deliver a keynote address while Cayman Islands Monetary Authority CEO, Cindy Scotland, will also speak. Other Cayman financial figures presenting include Steve McIntosh, CEO of Cayman Finance, and Faramarz Romer, chair of the association.

A host of international companies will also be represented, including American Reinsurance Company, Everlake Life, Morgan Stanley, EY, PwC and KPMG. A relative newcomer in Cayman’s conference scene, ReConnect has grown since being launched in 2023 and in 2025 it hosted 650 delegates from 210 companies.

The growth of the conference coincides with a strong expansion in Cayman’s reinsurance sector. According to the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, the jurisdiction’s reinsurance companies held US$101.5 billion of assets at the end of 2025, up from US$23 billion in 2020. The number of reinsurance companies has reached 113, up from 58 in 2020.

“ReConnect is carefully curated for a senior audience,” said Steve Papciak, chair of the ReConnect steering committee. “The programme is designed to support informed discussion on how reinsurance markets are evolving, with time built in for meaningful engagement between industry leaders.”

The first day will focus on Cayman’s reinsurance ecosystem with a view to providing prospective entrants or investors with access to regulators and experienced market players. The second day has a more international focus, looking at global factors – such as regulation, climate change and geopolitics – that impact the reinsurance industry.

International regulation is a key issue for Cayman’s reinsurance industry, which is seeking to obtain qualified jurisdictional status from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners in the US.
