The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens brought season’s greetings and Christmas cheer to employees of the essential services throughout Grand Cayman.
On the morning of 26 December, club members came out in force to deliver 25 gift baskets filled with goodies to the staff of several entities. The idea behind those the traditional holiday deliveries was to show appreciation to workers at all essential services, which oftentimes have to work through the holidays.
The departments and entities visited and delivered gift baskets included the Health Services Authority, Chrissie Tomlinson Hospital, Maple House and Middle Road Home. Baskets also were delivered to the police stations in George Town, Bodden Town and West Bay, as well as the prisons in Fairbanks and Northward. Also receiving recognition were the East End Sunrise Cottage (Retirement Home), the immigration office at Owen Roberts International Airport, the Pines Retirement Home, Golden Age Home, 911 emergency services and fire stations in George Town, Frank Sound and West Bay.
Lion Caroline Roberts, chairwoman of the social services committee, said this was a nice way for the organisation to thank the workers who missed out on having Christmas with family because of the essential nature of their jobs.
