Unity will be eager for a victory in Cayman Islands netball.
The club suffered a pair of bad losses last Saturday at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex. The A team was beaten by Rising Stars A 37-28 while the B squad was thrashed 61-8 by All Stars B.
For the B team it is their second straight blowout after losing to Roma A 68-6. The opposing team had all of the highlights last Saturday as Charlotte Shephard did a fine job at Goal Attack. Karen Smith-James continues to improve at Goal Shooter while Tishelle Logan provided good leadership on the wing (especially at Wing Defence) in a game where the result was never in doubt.
The A team meanwhile did put up a good fight. They were only down 17-10 by half-time before Rising Stars pushed on for the win. A number of Unity players sparkled on numerous occasions. Cherita Robinson showed the footwork and positioning to be a formidable scorer at Goal Shooter though her stroke was erratic at best.
Lavern Davis-Ebanks provided a spark off the bench at Goal Attack and showed brilliance from years past. The rest of Unity’s roster consisted of Kerry Scarlett (GS), Kenaya Goulbourne (GA), Racquel Graham (Centre), Polly-Ann Francis, (Wing Defence), Sheree McKenzie (Goal Defence), Niketa Boyd (Goal Keeper) with Zanya Pinnock and Beverly Scott as subs.
RS A stormed to victory in large part behind a determined offence. GS Melissa Rankine, GA Rosemarie Wilson and WA Marcia Moiten kept the pressure on and never let up. The rest of the line-up saw Casy Swaby (C), Mariska Blackman (WD), Tara Ramoon (GD), Patricia Boothe (GK) with subs Wendy Evans and Tricia Skyers.
Unity A is next in action this Saturday, 25 February, against Roma B. All Stars B also take the court, against the Flames Strikers. Both matches are at 6.30pm.
