Barefoot Man returns with new album

How can you be a poor beach bum if you have sand dollars in your possession, asks Cayman singer/songwriter Barefoot Man.

He says that you need to explore tropical beaches to collect sand dollars and he has pressed his toes into beaches around the globe, from Tahiti to Roratonga to Cuba and the Bahamas. Such beachcombing adventures have been the inspiration to many of Barefoot’s rum-laced songs.

He tells us that his latest release, “Sand Dollars”, is an “audible travelogue”. The 12 new tunes were recorded in Cayman and Nashville so the end result is a mix of calypso, country, humour and seriousness. Song subjects include sailing the Bahamas, exploring the jungles of Africa and hanging out with old folks in Cayman.

As with all other Barefoot releases, the CD is available in island gift shops, Funky Tangs and through the Barefoot website. You can also catch the new tunes live at the Reef Resort in East End every Thursday night and at the Wharf on Saturday nights.
