The Cayman Islands Humane Society is gearing up to host its second annual Walk & Wag 5K on Sunday, Jan. 12.
The walk/run will be at Camana Bay. The race starting at 7.30 a.m. Registration is at 6:30 a.m., and the Humane Society is hoping that participants will stop by the shelter to take a four-legged friend out to accompany them on the day.
“Last year’s Walk and Wag 5K event at Camana Bay was very well received by the community who came out in large numbers to support the society’s fundraiser,” Lesley Walker, Humane Society director, said. “This year we are encouraging local companies to sponsor a corporate team to join in the fun. There will be prizes for individuals and team entries, as well as raffle prizes just for taking part. We hope that Walk & Wag will become the first event of the year where local businesses can support a very worthwhile charity while offering their employees a fun, healthy and team building activity.”
All funds raised from the event go toward caring for the more than 100 animals at the shelter. Pre-registration is available at Foster’s Food Fair at The Strand, and Cafe Del Sol at Camana Bay on Saturday, Jan. 4 and 11 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Participation fee is $25 per person, $200 for company teams of 10.
