The Protection of Animal Welfare – or PAWS – is holding two-consecutive fun runs, Saturday, Jan. 4 and Saturday, Jan. 11.
The first is a 2-mile run, which starts and finishes at the North Sound Golf Club, while the following weekend, a 5k run will start and finish at The Lighthouse restaurant. Both runs start at 7 a.m. with all funds raised going toward helping the charity care for animals in the Eastern districts.
Each of the fun runs are open to all, including runners, walkers, little ones and four-legged companions, with continental breakfast included after both races.
To add a little competition to both events, organizers have created “Beat the Chaser.”
“The whistle will blow and everyone will start the race,” Holly Uzzell, event organizer, explained. “Seven minutes later, our chaser will begin his race. Cross over the finish line before the chaser catches up to you and you will be entered into a special raffle for a chance to win a grand prize.”
Prizes include Cayman Airways tickets, staycations from Morritt’s resort, restaurant vouchers and spa gift certificates, among others.
The participation fee for each race is $20; children under 12 can join in for free. Pre-register by visiting caymanactive.com/paws, or email [email protected] for further information. Event day registration opens at 6:15 a.m.
