Walk for the Cure set for October

The annual CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure has been scheduled for Oct. 5 in Cayman.

This is the third consecutive year the banking institution will be hosting the event, which brings together local cancer support services, other corporate entities and the public as leading participants in fundraising and walk activities in countries regionally and in Canada.

Since its inception in the Caribbean, close to US$150,000 has been raised across the region for early detection and general education programs in an effort to provide greater awareness of this disease, organizers say.

This year, the bank will build on the partnership forged with local cancer organizations to continue to provide financial and other support to persons in the region affected by cancer.

The bank said in a press release that its employees have committed to increasing their efforts to eclipse the amount of funds raised in previous years.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada’s largest single-day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, health education and advocacy programs, organizers say.

CIBC FirstCaribbean serves more than 500,000 accounts in 17 markets across 100 branches and offices.
