Local cricketers are priming themselves to represent their countries in the Challenge Trophy tournament this month.
The 20-over games will include England and Ireland Lions, Jamaica, Cayman, India, Barbados, Guyana, Australia and the World Stars. They are divided into two groups.
This is ideal preparation for the Cayman Islands senior team that will play in the International Cricket Council Americas Division 2 T20 tournament from Nov. 25 to Dec. 2.
The Lions face Jamaica in the first match Group Red game, at the Smith Road Oval on Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. If selected, George Johnson will be bowling his tricky left-hand medium pace for Jamaica.
Cayman play India in Group Blue afterward, starting at 2:30 p.m. At the Jimmy Powell Oval in West Bay on the same day, Barbados play Guyana from 11 a.m. In a Group Blue match and Australia face the World Stars at 2:30 p.m.
