The 2026 Inter-Primary Cricket season is in full swing following a high-energy pair of one-day rallies and a competitive second week of league play.

Cricket rally winners emerge

On Tuesday, 28 April, Island Primary B captured the girls rally title by defeating Edna M. Moyle Primary School with a score of 76 runs to 62 runs.

In the third-place match, Cayman Prep School defeated East End Primary School 79 runs to 48 runs.

The boys rally followed on Wednesday, 29 April, where Footsteps School secured its first-ever inter-primary cricket title after defeating St. Ignatius Catholic School 79 runs to 30 runs in the final.

Island Primary B claimed the third-place spot by beating Cayman International School 76 runs to 45 runs.

The one-day rallies are fast-paced games of short 8-over matches with four games being played simultaneously.

Consisting of four groups of four, the tournament required teams to play every opponent in their bracket, with only the group winners advancing to the semi-final round.

Week two of inter-primary cricket competition

Following the conclusion of the rallies, the regular inter-primary competition resumed for its second week on Friday, 8 May.

In the Zone A girls division, First Baptist Christian School defeated Red Bay Primary School 83 runs to 82 runs, while Prospect Primary School and East End Primary ended their match in a draw with 49 runs each.

Edna Moyle Primary, the girls rally runners-up, turned the tables on rally champions Island Primary B with a narrow 31 runs to 30 runs victory while Joanna Clarke Primary defeated Theoline L. McCoy Primary 51 runs to 50 runs.

In Zone B girls’ action, Cayman Prep A defeated Footsteps School 75 runs to 73 runs, Sir John A. Cumber Primary School beat Cayman Prep B 73 runs to 54 runs, and St. Ignatius Catholic got past Cayman International 64 runs to 59 runs.

The boys league games also saw several decisive results.

In Zone A, Red Bay Primary beat First Baptist Christian School 136 runs to 68 runs, East End Primary defeated Prospect Primary 58 runs to 54 runs, and Edna Moyle Primary won against Island Primary B 99 runs to 61 runs. Additionally, Joanna Clarke Primary downed Theoline L. McCoy Primary School 80 runs to 58 runs.

Within Zone B, Cayman Prep A beat the recent rally champions Footsteps School 87 runs to 66 runs.

Sir John A. Cumber Primary defeated Cayman Prep B 59 runs to 54 runs, and St. Ignatius Catholic outscored Cayman International School 125 runs to 93 runs.

The competition continues with the third round on Friday, 15 May, maintaining its regular Friday slots – 12pm for the girls and 1pm for the boys – at various primary school and sports fields across the island through June.
