Premier’s political assistant arrested

The political assistant to Premier Alden McLaughlin was arrested over the weekend for public order offenses, including allegedly assaulting a police officer, police confirmed Monday.

Kenneth Bryan, who ran as a political candidate in George Town in last year’s general election, was arrested early Saturday for disorderly conduct, obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duties, and assaulting police, police said.

Mr. Bryan was bailed to return to the George Town Police Station at a later date. He has not been charged.

Contacted by the Cayman Compass on Monday, Mr. Bryan said he did not want to comment. A spokesperson for the Premier’s Office said she could not comment at this stage.
