The Cayman Islands Insurance Association will hold a series of public meetings in all districts to provide information on the critical role of the industry in business and individual lives and to hear from residents regarding any concerns with their insurance.
The meetings will be held as part of the celebration of Insurance Week, which will be observed from April 6 to 12, under the theme: Insurance…Protecting You and Your Assets.
The CIIA Public Forums began in West Bay on Monday and continue today when residents of the Savannah/Bodden Town area will get their turn at the forum to be held at Breakers Civic Centre. The final forum in the series will be held on Thursday at the North Side Civic Centre for residents of East End and North Side.
Field experts from the insurance industry will discuss a wide range of topics, including: affordable insurance; filing an insurance claim; preparing for hurricane season; insurance investments for future security; investing for children’s education; health insurance and tips for getting the most out of insurance products.
Chairperson of the Insurance Week Committee Mrs. Claudette Saint-Reid noted that these district meetings represent an opportunity for residents to get up close with their insurance providers and to air their questions and concerns.
‘We in the industry are keen to discuss these issues and to provide answers to help people better understand that insurance is a critical element in protecting their assets and ensuring their financial security. We look forward to welcoming everyone to these meetings, as we celebrate Insurance Week,’ she stated.
In addition to the public forums, Insurance Week will a 5K/10K walk on Saturday. This is named as the Ken Chand Memorial Walk in memory of the late manager of Motor and General Insurance Company, who passed away from a heart attack in February. The walk/run is aimed at raising funds for the Cayman Heart Fund, and according to Mr. Saint-Reid, ‘raising awareness about health issues so that everyone can take steps towards a healthier lifestyle.’
The Ken Chand 5K/10K Memorial Walk begins at the Seven Mile Public Beach to the Wharf and back. The entry fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt, a sports water bottle and refreshments.
During the walk and the public forums, CIIA will provide participants with a variety of spot prizes including cell phones from Digicel, an iPod Nano and several gift certificates from participating businesses all over Cayman.
