Please allow me to add to the other letters sent on behalf of Leroy Jordan. I had the pleasure of working with Leroy as a concierge at the Ritz-Carlton.
During that time I saw Leroy who in my honest opinion went way beyond his call of duty to provide the most memorable experience to the quests. At times I would say to him as a joke that he needed to make sure he was not a ‘born’ Caymanian.
He knew almost everything about these Islands, things and persons that I as a born Caymanian didn’t know.
Leroy was always available no matter what time of day/night we (his colleagues) would need his assistance in fulfilling the needs of our guest. I was so sadden to hear that he has left our islands (due to this rollover disaster), such a shame.
Who will replace him for that year while he is gone?
Will it be someone who hears about our beautiful Islands and just want to make some ‘fast’ money?
Or perhaps someone how really wouldn’t have our visitors at heart the way Leroy had. Leroy was not here to make a bag of money (as those of us who have worked in the hospitality world) or to take anything from us the people of Cayman. He simply had a passion for these Islands and expressed it by giving the visitors of these shores the best vacation experience the will ever have.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Leroy for making me as a Caymanian to be proud of my country and to let him know I will always be grateful for him in molding me into the person I am today (having pride and love for my country that I took for granted most of the time). I know he will be back (hopefully) and I know he will do well where ever he goes. I just hope he doesn’t fall in love with any other country like he did here in Cayman. God be with hive and give him a speedy return.
