Please change the traffic signal system on West Bay Road where it meets with Lawrence Blvd (Marquee Centre).
I cannot tell you how many times there has been an accident or near accident at this junction. The traffic on West Bay Road travelling north does not stop when the green arrow for the traffic on Lawrence Blvd is allowed merge with it.
This is a recipe for disaster – whoever is in charge of the traffic system – please turn the light to red on West Bay Road when the filter traffic merges in from Lawrence Blvd. Additionally, the red light for West Bay Road traffic heading north is a red arrow rather than a full red light. It seems that many drivers think this means they can continue to drive ahead and not stop.
Recently when I used the pedestrian crossing, after waiting for the walk signal I was almost hit by a car whose driver did not heed the red light. Drivers – red is red and red means stop.
My final point – the central traffic lane is for turning and not overtaking! Does getting somewhere a couple of minutes faster mean it is worth putting other people’s lives at risk? Please think – too many lives have already been lost on our roads this year. A little care and thought would go a long way.
