Women involved in watching children play football get a unique bonding opportunity tomorrow when Cayman Athletic Football Club organises a social event just for them.
It’s the brainchild of Paulette Conolly-Bailey, the recently elected new president of the club.
She said: ‘We’re having a soccer moms clinic from 2pm-4.30pm at the George Town Primary School. It’s sponsored by Butterfield Bank and George Town Primary and it’s for women involved in soccer and any women involved in any aspect of a child’s life.
‘We’d like to give them a few pointers on how to cheer for the kids and cheer on the team properly and not to take over coaching from the coach. For example, a mum might tell the kid to shoot the ball in the goal when the coach might want him to pass it. Another one is saying: ‘Go Johnny!’ and not cheering for the whole team.
‘It’s to show how to best give support to the child or children that they’re involved with, how to help them through their emotions whether they win or lose and also to have a fun time amongst women as well.
‘We’re hoping for a good turn out of at least 50 women because all the funds go towards the club.’
Registration is $20 which gets you a T-shirt, towel and other goodies from Butterfield.
