The first of an annual charity golf event, the Governor’s Cup Tournament and Benefit went off without a hitch on Saturday at the North Sound Club Golf Course.
It raised $10,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands.
The tournament had a huge amount of support from local golfers with 96 players participating in the event, but it was Hurley’s Group who walked away with the Governor’s Cup trophy.
Hurley’s Group was made up of the four man team; Stephen Duval, Kirk Duval, Robert Tisfolis and Robert Ebanks with the Net Score of 52.13.
In second place was team Appleby’s with a Net Score of 52.75 and in third place was team NCB Homes with a Net Score of 53.25.
Butterfield Bank Private Banking hosted the Longest Drive Competition, awarding a brand new Blackberry Bold to Appleby’s team member Fiona Crellin.
‘We are very extremely happy with the outcome of the event,’ said Kenny Rankin Managing Director of Monster Media. ‘We had a great turnout of 96 players all in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters. I think everyone had a great time and we are looking forward to hosting the Governor’s Cup in 2009.’
The players were treated to a spectacular watch and jewellery showcase at the clubhouse from the marquee sponsors the Crown of Light Diamond exclusively available at Diamonds International.
The Hole-in-one prizes of the Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 and the Kawasaki Supercharged Ultra 250X jet ski were on display to motivate the players.
Although there were a few close shots on the day, no one was lucky enough to hit a hole-in-one.
Afterwards the players gathered for the awards reception on the roof top at Cayman Beach Suites, where Kenny Rankin and On Azriel of Diamonds International presented the board of directors from Big Brothers Big Sisters with a $10,000 cheque.
